DIAMANT had the opportunity to assist with the replacement of the swivel track on a 55-year-old stacker-reloader at Cleveland Cliffs in Burns Harbor (USA). An impressive piece of engineering history with a total diagonal length of 9.2 meters.
Our proven leveling material MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim® – was used here. As a load-bearing leveling material, MM1018 ensures a force-fit connection between uneven surfaces and precisely compensates for unpredictable gaps. The perfect foundation for maximum stability and durability.
Strong collaboration with ALPINE:
A big thank you to the team at ALPINE Bulk Materials Handling, with whom we carried out the project on-site together. It was a very good collaboration, from technical coordination to implementation in Burns Harbor!
Special challenge:
During installation, it became apparent that the gap was significantly larger than originally assumed. Thanks to the high flowability and load-bearing capacity of our product MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim® – this unforeseen deviation could also be reliably compensated for.
This project demonstrates how innovation, experience, and collaborative partnership can set new standards even with 55-year-old technology.
